They ran an emergency drill today which also included powering on some of the matter collider towers. Apparently they need one minute to be fully up and running, this shouldn't be a problem because the military brags about being able to detect a antimatter warhead launch before its even airborne. Once airborne they take approximately 10 minutes to circle the globe and strike their target. The sound’s the towers make reminds me of a mix between a ships fog horn and howling wind blowing by an open door. I definitely wouldn't be able to sleep though something like this. The Unfortunate truth this test brought to light was the fact that the town’s electrical grid was not powerful enough to keep the towers running for more than 3 minutes. For the rest of the day we were stuck using generators to run our power hungry, automated homes. They are ordering more reactors to help power the grid for the next test. Let's hope the next time we hear these things running it’s still a test.
